Rune B. Jakobsen
MD PhDCV
Rune Jakobsen is an orthopedic surgeon at the Department of orthopedic surgery at Akershus University Hospital and associate professor at the Institute of Health and Society at the University of Oslo.
His main research interest is in cartilage biology, injury and treatment. Rune defended his PhD-thesis titled «Mesenchymal stem cells in cartilage repair - studies of chondrogenesis in vivo and in vitro» in 2014.
Rune has been a visiting researcher at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Broad Institute in Boston and at the Department of orthopedics at the University of Minnesota. He currently supervises candidates within the fields of cartilage biology and orthopedic trauma including projects on 3D-printing and teaches cell biology, orthopedic surgery, evidence-based medicine and quality improvement science to medical students.
Since 2020 he is project leader of the KLINBEFORSK-funded IMPROVE-ACL project which implements register-based randomisation into the Norwegian Knee Ligament Register.
