Truls is educated Cand. med from the university of Bergen 2001. Since then he has worked 5 month at psychiatric department in Kristiansand before his internship at Ålesund hospital. Truls worked as a PhD student at OSTRC in the period between February 2004 and April 2007.
His PhD project focused on the consequences of minor head traumas among the football players in the Norwegian top league, Tippeligaen. I mai 2008, he defended his PhD.
Truls started his surgical training in summer 07 in Helse Fonna, Haugsund and Stord hospital and since July 2008 he has been working as an MD at the orthopaedic department at the Akershus University Hospital (AHUS). Truls is a former basketball player and coach, enthusiastic skier and amateur football player.
